Neak Oknha Chen Zhi Prince Group

Neak Oknha Chen Zhi is the chairman of Prince Group.

Nothing is known about him because he seems to want to keep a low profile. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is the chairman of Prince Holding Group, one of Cambodia's leading large-scale integrated business companies.

Chen Zhi, as he is known, is a naturalised Cambodian citizen of Chinese descent who arrived in the country in 2010. He has met with Prime Minister Hun Sen in person. We discover he works for Prince Real Estate, which has built numerous projects in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. Its services have assisted in the construction of over one million square metres. Its properties include the Prince Plaza Center, the Prince Modern Plaza, the Prince City Center, and the Prince IT Building. Many of the buildings are still being renovated, but they should be completed soon.

Prince Group also owns Cambodia Airways, Belt Road Capital Management, Awesome Global Investment Group, Canopy Sands Development, and Prince Supermarket. That's a lot of companies! It should not confuse us that he is also an investor in a variety of other companies, because all of these businesses would make a lot of money.

We also know that, aside from his business activities, he seems to be an active philanthropist.

Last year, Neak Oknha Chen Zhi directly agreed to contribute USD $3 million to assist Cambodia in purchasing 1 million COVID-19 vaccines, and he also provided assistance when the country was hit by severe floods. Chen Zhi and Prince Group recently donated an additional USD $3 million to resolve the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Cambodia.

He appears to be a watch enthusiast, and he is said to have donated a substantial sum of money to create the Prince Horology Vocational Training Center, which provides multiple full and partial scholarship placements for talented Cambodian students seeking to learn the fine art of luxury watchmaking.

Would Cambodian-made watches be as good as those made in Switzerland and Japan? Chen Zhi of Prince Group seems to wish for them to be.

Chen Zhi is also a sports fan, with Prince Group pledging its support for the Cambodian national volleyball team, which will compete in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.

Chen Zhi's Prince Group donated $500,000 to the Cambodia Volleyball Federation and arranged for a two-month training programme in Fujian, China, for 21 Cambodian volleyball teams.

Following that, they hired a volleyball coach to help the team grow. Volleyball is not a common sport among Cambodians, but the country rarely wins in team sports, so a bronze medal would be welcome.

How did Chen Zhi end up in Cambodia? To pull off such big schemes, he obviously must have a background in real estate or know people who do. He must be a skilled networker because he knows so many people from different fields.

We know he doesn't want his work to be recognised. The bulk of research seems to be done in the field and offline. According to the sources, the Prince Charitable Foundation receives the majority of Prince Group's efforts when it is not involved in banking, aviation, real estate growth, or retail. In the last ten years, they've quietly launched over 240 fundraising activities.

Chen Zhi and Prince Group have at least ensured that a significant number of people have found jobs in Cambodia. The Group employs a significant number of people in Phnom Penh and in Cambodia. They recently announced that they will soon begin construction on Ream City, a $16 billion project that will build an 834-hectare city in Sihanoukville. It will be built on reclaimed land and will include traditional planned community amenities such as hotels, malls, beach resorts, condos, landed homes, holiday homes, schools, parks, and so on.

If his plans come to fruition and Prince Group continues to grow and expand at its current pace, it won't be long before Neak Oknha Chen Zhi of Prince Group becomes a household name in Cambodia.
